The most beautiful and emblematic entrance to the city. It was built by the emperor Carlos V.
Even though it has Arab origins, it was built and modified with clear Renaissance features in 1550 by Alonso de Covarrubias, a citizen of Torrijos, Toledo.
The façade is crowned by a shield of arms over two solid masonry towers, which displays a two-headed eagle and it was handed over to Toledo by Carlos V.
- Address: C. Alfonso VI
