Toledo Alcázar

The "Alcázar" is one of the most symbolic sites of Toledo and a privileged witness of some of the most important events in the history of Spain.

It achieved its greatest splendor during the reign of Carlos I, when the best and most renown architects devoted their talent to this historic building.

It is not open to the public at present, since it is being restored in order to house the Army Museum, whose inauguration is scheduled for 2009. This museum will be organized into eigth main rooms with historic collections (up to the 20th century) and twelve thematic rooms with diverse collections.
