“ciudad de toledo” jazz festival
Festival de Jazz de Toledo

With these festivals, the Town Council of Toledo and Collaborating Entities are trying to boost the creativity and appeal of the City's music scene, with the most classic jazz-tinted sources and more innovating proposals, including fusion rhythms, multi-cultural and varied elements and, why not, Hispanic sounds.

Marching jazz bands have always been an essential element in these events (Missing Stompers, Chicago Dixi…), thanks to their joyful and energetic approach; the true drive and leading voice of these festivals. White European jazz groups (Zimmerman, Lusarreta, Mcgill, Mauri Sanchis…), with an astounding technique, have blended the charm of Latin jazz with the warmth and originality of our influences, providing jazz rhythm and flavor to the nights of Toledo and achieving a truly universal feeling.

Similarly, the feminine voices (Lenna Pablo, MandaDjinn…) have been a differentiating element in the jazz concerts of the city, depicting the black origins and universal spirituality of their quality and strong voices.

In addition, Big Band, Sedajazz and other popular bands appear at the Festival to impress the public with the best of the vintage and melodic Swing songs.

Legendary figures (Mingus Orchestra, Alain Jean Marie, Johnny Griffin…), some of whom are even still active and have played in Toledo before ending their careers, offering sporadic but truly impressive performances for the delight of the most demanding spectators.

National and Latin-inspired jazz groups (David Sánchez, Mariano Díaz, Habana Report, Javier Verche, Manuel Machado, Javier Colina, Pedro Iturralde, Perico Sambeat…) also have an important place in the program of this Festival, which has brought the most important jazz bands in the Spanish scene to Toledo.

Local groups, from both Toledo and Castilla - La Mancha (Sideburns Blues Band, Lorenzo Moya, Una dioptría, Speak Low…) have become one of the future's challenges, to maintain the love for music throughout time in the historic town of Toledo.

The music will be played in the city's venues, including large ones: El Rojas, San Vicente, el Auditorium of the CCM, Thalia; as well as smaller ones: El Ultimo, El Pícaro, El Dodici, La Destilería, El Ambigú…

This festival would not exist without the effort of the Institutional Sponsors and Organizers (Town Council of Toledo, Cultural Toledo, Caja Madrid, Luz del Tajo), as well as Collaborators (Council of Communities, Caja Castilla la Mancha, Cinco Notas, Circulo de Arte), which requires important organization requirements and enthusiasm apart from the economic effort involved.
